Just Back from Boa Vista, Cape Verde, another amazing trip we were there for 7 days but due to a sand storm ,which didnt stop us kitesurfing we had 9 glorious days kitesurfing. Due to the a great group of lads and a load of kit, it turned in to nearly a massive group kitesurfing gear test. There were surfboards from resin8, Firewire, and the north wam and whip and xsurf. I feel in love with the new North Xsurf , I have always struggled as I am of the larger rider category, and always struggle needing a load of power to get a normal wave board up and going, so it was a joy to have a go with our guides board Stava (stravatours@hotmail.com) Strava is the man in boa vista ,he guides you to the best places to kitesurf and is often the man on the beach launching landing or even rescuing when things go badly, and if you are half tempted to go to Boa Vista hire him it is totally worth it. The Xsurf is a 6 ft board and has a flattened tail rocker so seems to stay on the plane for a long time compared to anything else I have ever ridden. It still goes round corners and if you saw Strava ripping the waves apart you would swear he was on something smaller. The firewire kqf 6ft seem to also get some very good feedback, Dan ( first man on the water) seemed to push on, and his strapless wave riding came on leaps and boards, after telling us all the north Wam, was the way forward, it was amazing as he got better, the slightly softer flex of the firewire kite board giving great control and more projection out the turns than other stiffer boards. The three Lee’s feel in love with the latest Vegas , well until the 12m kicked some butt. The Best GP won Lee over with it’s great jumping ability, and fast turning.
